18 Septemberplein

In 2020 we finished the redevelopment of our 9,000 m2, four story C&A building at 18 Septemberplein, Eindhoven, The Netherlands. With glass boxes at 5.5 meters wide, 7 meters high and weighing 3000kg each, the type and scale of glass façade construction at our 18 Septemberplein renovation has never before been realised in the Netherlands. UNStudio was invited to restore and connect this historical building to its existing urban context.

Redevco used the renovation of the old department store as an opportunity to implement sustainability measures and strives for a BREEAM-Excellent certification. Sustainability measures that have been taken are the installation of solar panels, green on the roof and façade, and the use of energy efficient escalators and elevators.
