Redevco’s retail development ALEA 101 in Berlin’s famous Alexanderplatz neighbourhood has achieved a BREEAM Excellent post-construction rating.
Redevco’s retail development ALEA 101 in Berlin’s famous Alexanderplatz neighbourhood has achieved a BREEAM Excellent post-construction rating.

Located directly at the foot of Berlin’s TV Tower, ALEA 101 is a 30-metre-high building with five floors and a basement. Of the approximately 19,000 square metre gross floor space, some 10,000 square metres are dedicated to retail and restaurants and it is fully let to well-known companies such as TK Maxx, ShoeCity, Olymp & Hades and Vapiano. On the third and fourth floors there is 3,200 square metres of high-quality office and residential space.

Speaking at the presentation of the BREEAM certificate at Expo Real, Martin Townsend, Director of Sustainability for BRE Global, said “Redevco is one of the leading users of BREEAM throughout Europe. They have a strong sustainability vision and a target to have a portfolio that is 100% BREEAM certified by the end of 2016. We congratulate Redevco and the whole development team on their continuing BREEAM success.”

This entails BREEAM certification and improving energy performance of properties where possible.”

The building achieved a BREEAM Excellent Post-Construction rating with a score of 75.5%, scoring particularly high under BREEAM’s transport, management and waste categories. It was assessed under the BREEAM Europe Commercial 2009 scheme, and the BREEAM assessor was Buro Happold.
