Redevco is pleased to present its ‘Responsible Real Estate Investment 2016/2017’ report. It describes the steps we have taken to put our investment strategy into practice and further commit to making our business operations more sustainable. The report reflects our view on sustainable cities and the significance it has to our business success. To illustrate this, three city cases in our report demonstrate where and how we invest. The three cities we chose this year are Vienna in Austria, Glasgow in the United Kingdom and Almere in the Netherlands.
Most importantly we kept the focus on future-proofing, thus improving the quality, of our assets under management (AuM). We continuously learn from each positive experience and further mitigate any negative environmental impact our business activities may have. Together with our investor clients, we set the ambitious target to have at least 50% of investment value allocated to BREEAM certified properties with a rating of Very Good or better by 2022. In 2016, this strategy resulted in 34 improved BREEAM ratings compared to 10 in 2015, and we are not stopping here as we set out to improve another 25 assets in the year to come.
Our report presents many more examples of our efforts and we encourage you to read our report that will hopefully inspire you. Our stakeholders are crucial to our business and therefore also allow us to share the positive experiences we have had, which we describe in this report. Thanks to all who have contributed so far, as we are convinced that cooperation is key to be able to balance our social, environmental and economic interests. Please enjoy reading this report. We welcome any feedback.
