Redevco, the pan-European investment manager specialising in retail real estate has been awarded 1st prize in the category New Development Project by the jury of the ICSC European Shopping Centre Awards 2017 for Promenade Sainte-Catherine, the landmark development in Bordeaux, France. This urban regeneration project of 28,000 m2, including 19,000 m2 of retail space, is located right in the heart of the city’s historic centre.

Opened eighteen months ago, following four years of precision construction work in the historic centre of Bordeaux, the ‘open-air’ commercial area Promenade Sainte-Catherine stands out through its innovative architectural concept in particular, which blends perfectly into its commercial urban environment.

The concept of architecture firm Valode & Pistre, is a real “urban oasis” in the capital of the French province of Gironde, providing visitors a real breath of fresh air and a wonderful place to shop, relax, eat and socialize.

Fully occupied, Promenade Sainte-Catherine has become the new nerve centre of the city centre of Bordeaux, comprising new and familiar brand names, both international and local, accommodated around a new central square in Bordeaux. All of them offer strong concepts in fashion, beauty, home furnishings, leisure and gastronomy. Many top brand names are here, like Lego, Bershka, Starbucks, Blue Box and Citadium to name a few.

‘Promenade Sainte-Catherine was conceived and designed to be the new meeting place for the citizens of Bordeaux. I am very proud of this international recognition, which I would like to share with all our partners, the participating retail brands, the City of Bordeaux and the teams of Redevco France, each of whom has made an incredible contribution to this remarkable achievement. Even though the four years of work were characterized by the complexity of the task, we are now experiencing the immense joy of a successful development that has so far attracted more than nine million visitors.’ says Thierry Cahierre, Managing Director of Redevco France.
