Sustainability Manager

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Operations & Performance

• Operational Sustainability strategy delivery for both standing assets and re(development projects):
  • Engage with Investment Directors to set high-level sustainability ambitions per fund and (re)development projects and support discussions with investor clients and supply chain partners.
  • Support the development and implementation of net zero carbon and decarbonisation roadmaps
  • Implement sustainability initiatives across the operating portfolio, ensuring alignment with fund‑level sustainability strategies, targets and net‑zero pathways.
  • Support the transaction team and oversee sustainability due diligence and assessments for acquisitions and dispositions.

• Energy & carbon management — Oversee energy optimisation, building performance improvements, and carbon‑reduction programmes across Europe, including managing assurance of the programmes.
• Building certifications — Oversee the management of certification processes (e.g., BREEAM, DGNB, LEED, WELL, NABERS) and ensure continuous improvement and associated assurance.
• Supplier engagement — Work with local teams regarding the management of property managers and FM providers to embed sustainability KPIs (environmental and social) into contracts and operations.
• Assurance — Frequent reporting on project progress, prioritisation of decision making and identification and resolution of obstacles to success.
• Training — Contribute to internal training and awareness programmes to strengthen sustainability integration across the business

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• EU regulatory alignment — Ensure compliance with EU and national sustainability regulations (e.g., EPBD, SFDR reporting and operational data requirements).
• Climate risk — Support physical and transition risk assessments and integrate findings into asset business plans.

Data, Reporting & Analytics

• Sustainability data management — Lead collection, validation, and analysis of asset‑level sustainability data across all European markets
• Performance reporting:
  •  Lead on the operational sustainability reporting in collaboration with local teams, for investors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of annual responsible investor report and lead GRESB submissions where relevant.

• Technology & systems — Support deployment of metering, monitoring, and building analytics tools to improve performance.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Asset manager & development manager partnership — Work with asset managers to integrate sustainability actions into business plans and capex decisions and oversee implementation.
• Tenant engagement — Work with asset managers to develop tenant engagement programmes to improve operational performance and support green leases.
• Industry representation — Represent the company in relevant sustainability forums and working groups.

Skills & Experience

• 5–8+ years in real estate sustainability, building operations, energy management, or Sustainability or ESG consulting.
• Development or construction management experience desirable
• Strong understanding of European real estate markets and cross‑border operational challenges.
• Technical knowledge of building systems, carbon accounting, energy optimisation, and sustainability certifications.
• Experience with ESG data platforms and building analytics tools.
• Ability to influence diverse stakeholders across multiple countries and cultures.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
