Energy as a Service (EaaS)
Energy as a Service (EaaS) project was introduced to achieve our Mission 2040 goal by facilitating green energy to our tenants. Thereby reducing our scope 3 emissions, primarily from their energy use in Assets under Management. Based on surveys and interviews conducted among the Dutch tenants, we learned about their needs and current struggles with acquiring energy. This led us to initiate a green energy collective at the end of 2023 with Nieuwe Stroom, an energy utility company based in The Netherlands.
What is it?
The tenant collective we have created with Nieuwe Stroom is a product of the Energy as a Service project. Tenants who join the collective will receive certified green energy with interesting discounts while not being tied up with long term contracts.
What is Redevco’s role?
As Redevco, we facilitate this initiative for our tenants. If they are interested in this green energy offer, they contact Nieuwe Stroom directly. We will not be liable for the energy sold nor do we gain financially from this collaboration. Our priority with this collective is to motivate tenants to switch to green energy.
What is next for Energy as a Service?
In 2024, we plan to scale EaaS to other countries and offer similar energy purchasing options to tenants like in the Netherlands. Within the country, the offering may vary depending on the policies and legislation around energy purchasing. But the process to find the right solution remains the same: active tenant engagement to understand their needs, and feedback collection to ensure we facilitate services of value to our tenants. As an innovation project, we will keep learning from our tenants in the coming months on how the collective is received and adjust the offering accordingly.
