Hasselt (Kuringen), 31 March 2016 – Redevco, the pan-European retail real estate specialist, has completed the redevelopment of its Retail Park along the Kuringersteenweg (exit E313) in Kuringen.
The construction works started last summer and have now been completed. The Carrefour hypermarket site was thoroughly renovated and welcomes two new stores. The entire retail park now has a 23,800 m² retail area, fully let to Hypermarkt Carrefour, Lunch Garden, Pearle, Leonidas, Yves Rocher, hairdresser De Witte, a tavern, Mister Minit and newcomers Quick and Decathlon.
Everything has been renovated: the Carrefour entrances have been renewed and Lunch Garden now has a new two-storey customer area. The facade of the current stores received a new look with wooden elements. End of December, Quick already opened a new establishment (approximately 470 m²) near the E313 highway exit. Tomorrow Decathlon opens a completely new store (4,750 m²) on columns at the front of the site. The car park was also completely renewed and can now accommodate 1,350 cars for free.
Filip de Bois, Portfolio Director at Redevco Belgium, is satisfied with the outcome: “Once again, Kuringen has a modern and contemporary retail park with easy accessibility and an attractive store mix. We are convinced it will be a success.”
Sustainable elements have been integrated in the Retail Park, such as a wadi for the buffering and infiltration of rainwater, a flower meadow with bee hotel, local plantation, the use of sustainable materials and a new Decathlon store making use of natural light.
The redevelopment project was completed successfully in cooperation with contractors Stadsbader, Heijmans, Welec, Intec and Schindler. To conclude the project in a sportive manner, all parties will organise a cycling tour of almost 100 km together.
